My Father, the Bomb and Me
In this documentary, historian Lisa Jardine turns detective on her own father, Jacob Bronowski. In his books and television programmes Bronowski had been a great advocate of science and so completely convinced his daughter that science was a force for good in the world that she has spent her life promoting it. But then Lisa discovered her father’s role in the allied bombing campaign of World War 2, which used science to kill hundreds of thousands of people. She cannot see him as a hypocrite. She cannot see her life’s mission as misguided. In this clip, she meets someone who helps her come to terms with a revelation that has rocked her life.
